Flight direction depends entirely on morning wind patterns. Pilots use varied air currents at different altitudes to steer close, but aviation safety rules keep balloons from brushing the stones directly.

Ground temperatures at 5:30 AM can hover around 7°C, so a warm sweater and windbreaker are necessary. Once you are airborne, heat coming off the propane burner keeps the basket surprisingly mild.

Established operators will reschedule you for the following morning or issue a prompt refund. It is wise to book your flight on your first full day in Mexico City to leave a backup date.

The Teotihuacan airspace is heavily regulated by Mexican civil aviation authorities. Stick to established operators with registered registration letters on the envelope and licensed commercial pilots.
